Description: The frame drum of the native people of the west coast of Canada is found in a variety of sizes. Common to many of the peoples of the coastal and inland regions, this was an important instrument used in a variety of rituals and dances. The drum is made from either a single piece of wood bent into a circle or frame, or from a number of pieces pieced together to form the frame. Traditionally goat skin is stretched over the top.
